Willie C Thurman, Jr

Willie C. Thurman, born in Memphis, TN on August 14, 1944 to the union of W. C . and Thelma Thurman. He and his entire family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in the late 1940's. Willie was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and in 1962 graduated from Hadley Tech (now, Vashon High School). Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served his country faithfully and honorably. During his tour in the US Air Force he met Doris M. Bryant and they were united in holy matrimony on December 30, 1967 in Dover, Delaware. This union was blessed with four sons. Willie's tours of duties included Vietnam, Japan, The Republic of the Philippines, England, and The United States. Willie and Doris returned to Scott Air Force Base in 1979. Shortly after in 1983, he retired as a Master Sergeant and began his career in Civil Service as an Air Transportation Supervisor for 15 years. He continued his life of service, working as a School Bus Driver and Security Guard. Willie had many hobbies which included watching sports, keeping in contact with friends and family on the computer, spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and documenting family history. Willie will forever be remembered by his devoted wife Dor i s Thurman of St. Louis; beloved sons William C . Thurman, III and Jerel Thurman (Stephanie) of St. Louis, MO; treasured grandchildren: James E. Jackson, Kayla E. Thurman, William C . Thurman IV, Tyra L Thurman, Tyesia M. Thurman, Rheanna L . Thurman, Samantha A. Thurman, and Jerel A. Thurman, Jr.; brother: Paul Thurman (Arnita) of Louisiana; three sisters: Thelma Jean Thurman of Lousiana; Mary (Welton) Simmons, and Miki Moore, of St. Louis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom were all blessed to know him. He is preceded in death by his sons Victor L . Thurman and Wallace L. Greene. He is also preceded in death by his parents and brother Ray A. Woods. Enterment: J.B.
