Willie Jackson Macon

October 15, 1936 — June 4, 2012

Willie Jackson Macon Beloved Brother, Uncle & Friend Born on October 15, 1936, he was the fourth of five children born to Louretha Sherrod-Macon and Fed Macon in Louisville, Mississippi. Two of his siblings Rev. Jeremiah Macon and Helen Macon-Cooper, preceded him in death. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age while attending the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Louisville, MS. He received his education from the Louisville School District. He later moved to St. Louis, MO along with his brother Rev. Jeremiah Macon, who was also his best friend and confidant. His nick name from him was "Penny". He met many new friends, some which became lifelong friendships in which he was looked upon as a father figure, an uncle, a big bother, and a mentor. He was always very independent, reliable, hard working, of great integrity, and always encouraging others. He believed in paying for anything he received, and paying anyone who had done something for someone he loved. He was well known for his giving spirit, telling funny jokes and his hilarious recalling of childhood family stories. No one will ever forget his great ability to observe you and give you the perfect" nick name. God kept him in his right mind, with a great spirit, and an excellent memory. He could recall recent and past dates, times details, and people's name with no problem. It was just recently that he became one of the oral historians of the family history, website on Facebook consisting of numerous descendants including Sherrod, Cockrell, Jackson, Owens, Dotson, Cooper, Sims, Hardy, Adams, Scruggs, Davis, Calmese and others. His information has helped connect several missing family dots, reunite lost family members, and to the discovery of relatives, throughout the world that wee never known of before. He always reverenced God, prayed often, and enjoyed listening to his radio on KMOX 1120. He often enjoyed watching westerns with the family while nibbling on some Kraft American" cheese, some barbeque pork skins, or some vanilla ice cream, then washing it down with "a good ole" cold Pepsi. He listened everyday to his favorite radio church programs and paid tithes monthly to different radio ministries, local churches, ministries, or whomever God lead him to help. His zeal for life carried him well past the age of retirement, working beyond the age of 70 while employed at Moore Food Distributors. He worked there faithfully for many years until he was hit by a car one day while leaving work, suffering injuries and broken bones. He bounced back from that, and fought cancer for a few years. The doctors wee all astonished at how God had allowed him to bounce back so many times without receiving any chemotherapy or radiation. When things began to change and the doctors gave up on him, God showed out even the more allowing him to live even longer than predicted while still full of zeal and in his right mind. He never complained, and was ever grateful for the love and support of his sister-n-law Rosie Mae Macon whom he always referred to as My Sister Rose" and his nieces, Minister June Macon, and Rosie "Baby Rose" Macon. He was always surrounded by the loving calls, visits, and prayers for strength and courage from his family, the First Baptist Church of Elmwood Park family, and real close friends. No matter what day or time that you talked to him he'd always tell you "I'm good, and everything is fine." God the father saw fit to call his child home early in the morning on June 4, 2012, making everything forever good and forever fine for an eternity with Him. He leaves to cherish his fond memories: Two sisters: Ada Lee Doton (Oscar) of Louisville, MS and Rosie Mae Macon (Jeremiah) of St. Louis, MO; Tow brothers: James "Bubba" Macon of Cleveland, Ohio, and LeAndrew Macon (Bertha) of Louisville, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Interment -Laurel Hill CemeteryPagedale, MO 63133 .
