August 12, 1930 — April 6, 2015

Obituary William Abernathy, Jr. was born in St. Louis, MO, the oldest child of William Abernathy, Sr. and Audrey Montreal Abernathy, who both preceded him in death. When his mother passed away, her sister Lucille and her husband Dewey Davis helped to raise William and his brother Wilbur (deceased). William graduated from Sumner High School, and on May 28, 1950 he married his beloved Theora "Mickey" Elizabeth Massey, and to this union were born 6 children. William purchased a home and moved his family to Kirkwood, MO in 1960. William raised his family by working for 32 years at Reliable Life Insurance Company and 15 years for the City of Kirkwood as a watchman. William and Theora were married for 54 years before she passed, and her faithful Christian witness encouraged William to accept Christ as his savior and be baptized at 74 years of age at the West End Gospel Hall. William, a strong dedicated family man, leaves to mourn his beloved brothers Ronald Abernathy, and Edward Harrison, children, Audrey, Lance (deceased), Gail, Mark (Jay), Janet, William (Beersheba), and a host of relatives and friends.
