Life Reflections Virgin Mercile Mayweather was the seventh of 9 chil- dren born November 28, 1926 in Lexa, AR to the union of Wardell Mayweather and Peoria Miller. Mercile's father, mother, three sisters; Laura Mayweather, Dora Young and Willie Trimuel; two brothers Lloyd Mayweather and Henry Mayweather, Sr. all preceded her in death. Mercile was educated in the Helena Arkansas School system, where she received her high school diploma. After high school. she joined some of her siblings in St. Louis, Missouri to live and seek employment. She worked in manufacturing for many years. She later met and married the love of her life, John C. Taylor, Sr., who preceded her in death. Together they raised 6 children, 2 preceded her in death (Herman and Garland, Sr.) Mercile accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in Lexa. AR. Later, she became a member of Eastern Star M.B. Church, here in st. Louis, MO, before joining Union Tabernacle M.B. Church for over 50 years. She sang in the choir for many years and was recognized as a Charter Member. Mercile's Life work was caring for her husband for 43 years of the 50+ years they were married. She loved people and loved to be around and keep in touch with everyone. The telephone was her best friend. She loved to be on the go, games shows, bowling and most sports. She was truly a Cardinal fan. God saw fit to bring his angel home. She departed from this life Thursday, September 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital. Mercile was affectionately known as "Big Mama" to many and will be missed by all. She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Jessie Atwater, John C. Taylor, Jr. (Gloria) of Pine Bluff, AR, Garland Taylor, II (Brigette), Shermaine Taylor; 11 grand- children, Stephanie Atwater, Stephen (Letha) Atwater of Baltimore, MD, Michelle (Robert) Slate, Jackie Petty-Dlaz, Kim Walker, Donna Gaines, Herman Baines, Jr. of Kan- sas City, KS, Yolanda Hall, John C. Taylor, III, Aubrey Taylor, LaShonda Reid; 24 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Floyd Mayweather of Brea, CA; 2 sisters, Louise (Henry) Adkins, Lettie Craw- ford; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine DeBerry of Chicago, IL and Jewel Johnson of Little Rock, AR; and a HOST of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
