Vertie Lee Rucker

Life ReflectionVertie Lee Rucker was born July 29, 1935 to the late Eleanor Graham and Samuel Works, inWebster Groves, Missouri. Her parents and siblings, McKinley Works, Eleanor (Aunt Sister) Allen, Margaret Works, Leroy (Buckwheat) Works, Edward Works and Step-children, BerniceRucker and Alice Rucker, preceded her in death.Vertie accepted Christ at a early age and loved the Lord with all her heart. While a memberof Old Community Baptist Church, Vertie loved to sing in the choir and play the piano. Shewas also passionate about visiting and taking care of the sick and elderly. Vertie received her education in Webster Groves and attended Douglas High School. She worked for A.G. Edwards and Sons as a caregiver and housekeeper for 25 years.Vertie married Lloyd J. Burgett and from this union one son was born, Lloyd Albert Burgett andlater in life remarried the late William (Bill) Rucker, Jr. on December 17, 1966. In 1995, Vertiemoved to Atlanta, Georgia to be closer to her son and grandchildren. There, she joined BridgewayCommunity Church. She was an active member and a social butterfly! Vertie loved attendingBible study, going on church outings and caring for others.On Friday, September 9, 2016, Vertie passed peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord and Savior.Vertie leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Lloyd Albert Burgett, Sr., and daughter-in-law,Greselda (Grace), grandchildren, Michelle, Lloyd, Jr., Jermaine and Christopher Burgett; great-grandchildren, Damon and Aysia Key; one brother, George Works; sisters-in-law, Betty Works and Elma Rogers; brother-in-law, Sam Rucker; and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.Interment:St. Peters Cemetery2102 Lucas and Hunt RoadSt. Louis, MO 53121 .
