A Life's ReflectionVelma Rene Timms was born on April 27, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, to James and Mable Peal. Preceding her in death are her parents and five brothers; James, Robert, Sylvester, Charles, [)onald, and one sister, Josephine. Velma attended Turner Schoolof Meacham Park and Kirkwood High School. She attended First Baptist Churchin St. Louis,where she served as an usher and treasurer.In 1963, Velma married George Shields. In this union they had six children, two boys and four girls.Velma had a loving spirit and a one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Her presence alone could brighten any room. She loved telling jokes, but at the same time she kept it real. She had a very speciallove for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Velma departed this life on January 31,2011.She leaves to cherishher memory six childen: Aleasha Arrington, Mable (Pernell) Patterson; George (Valecia) Shields, Mark, (Lucille) Shields, T'eresa Shields, Satina Shieldsand fiance Steven; 14 grandchildren; Michiael, Selena, [)annie, LaShonda[)emetrius, Marqies, Mark, Jr., [)avid, Jr., Candice, Jallil, Brennesia, Jada, [)emetriusA., and [)evin; 12 great grandchildren, two sisters; Melva (Lawrence) Cutts and Anitha (Richiard) Lightfoot; one brother, Larry (Cordelia) Peal; three sisters-in-Law Mialona,Ardes, andTerri, and a host of relInterment -Forever Oak HillKirkwood, MO 63122 .
