Life ReflectionsThelma Alice Redmond (Booth) was born November 30, 1925 in Chesterfield, MO. She was the eighth of thirteen children born to the late William and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Booth. With Christ at an early age, Thelma worshipped at First Baptist Church of Chesterfield. In her later years, she joined Kinloch Church of God. When Thelma first met James Elijah "Red" Redmond at a diner, he proclaimed, "I'm gonna marry you". The two were united in matrimony on April 9, 1948, and spent the rest of their lives together raising seven children. James preceded Thelma in death as did Sandra, their youngest daughter. Thelma enjoyed spending time in the company of family and friends. If you knew Thelma, she was truly excited to see you and always addressed you by name. In turn, family and friends responded with affectionate nicknames of their own. She was called Momma, Granny, Aunt Hump, Humpty, Smokey, Bumper and a host of other nicknames, each meaning that she was loved. Most of us can recall a time when Thelma helped us along the way. Whether it was a neighborhood kid needing a haircut or a challenging life situation, she was always willing to offer advice or a helping hand without judgment. Thelma remained strong through her battle with diabetes and renal failure undergoing hemodialysis for nearly ten years. She truly believed in the power of prayer to heal and change. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sister, Constance "Connie" Frazier; children, James .Jr.. Layne, Kenneth (Natalie), Barbara, Donald (Rhonda), and Jerry (Diana); and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, cherished friends and caretakers, all of whom were very special to her.
