Life Reflection

Terry Sheldon Thompson was born December 19, 1957 to Ms. Cecelia Thompson who preceded him in death. He was raised in Chesterfield, MO by his mother and father, Mr. Curtis Johnson. As a child, Sheldon attended the Rockwood School District until the 8th grade. He obtained his GED and went to truck driving school. In June 2018 he received an Associate Degree in Music from Edmonds College. He was working on a degree in music production and engineering.

He accepted Christ at an early age, attending Union Baptist Church of Chesterfield and First Baptist Church of breve Coeur. He could be found on zoom listening to service here at UBCC.

For many years Terry earned a living driving 18-wheeler trucks across the country. He was so familiar with the road that he was his family's MapQuest before the app was ever invented. Just like the app, you told him where you wanted to go, and he'd tell you how to get there. He was at his best driving across the country, meeting new people and making friends. His other love was music. He loved playing the piano. He would spend hours plunking on the piano, creating his own music. As part of his studies, he wrote a song and had two people perform it for his final.

But his greatest love was family and friends. As he dated, with each relationship, he may not have gained a wife, but he gained children. In these relationships, he gained daughters Reba Rene, Renita Shante, Roxanne, and sons Anthoney Allen and Michael Mortez.

In July 2015 he met and married Tonya Crawford. Even though the marriage didn't last, the two divorced in September 2018, they remained friends. He moved to Tacoma WA and lived there for about 8 years. He was active in church out there and helped wherever he could.

Terry was the kindest person you would ever meet. He always had a smile and a laugh. Before Facebook, he was the one who stayed connected with everyone. Every Monday he would send out a text "Good morning and have a blessed week". When he hung up the phone, he'd say "love you". Always willing to help.

The pandemic was a rough time for everyone but for Terry it turned out to be a blessing. After doing an Ancestry.com he learned he had a biological daughter Tenisha Whitehead. They met for the first time in December 2022. Although he had only met her a short time ago his love for her and his granddaughters was beyond measure. He wanted to move to Texas to be closer to her and his granddaughters and find a new purpose in life. Although he didn't get the chance to do so he was still happy to know that after all these years as a father to many he had one to call his own. Not only did he find a daughter, he found several siblings including Dana Parker and Darnell Dennis. Terry moved back here to Chesterfield in May 2022. He was plagued by health problems. He departed this life June 2, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Tenisha, Reba, Renita, Roxanne; sons Anthony and Michael; a host of grandkids and great grandkids; father Curtis (Elise) Johnson; brothers Chris (Doris) Johnson, Darnell (Victoria) Dennis, Herman Rattler and Artie Ratliff; sisters Tracey (Hayward) Logan and Dana Parker, Erma Ratliff, Lillie Ratliff and Vickie Ratliff; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives and friends. A good friend Connie McBride.
