Obituary"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil...Her children arise up,and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her" Proverbs 31:10,11,28 SARAH LOUISE (VAUGHN) BEALwas a virtuous woman who left a great legacy for five generations. Though she only stood four feet 10 inches tall. Sarah was indeed a warrior who fought a good fight. She trained "all" her children to love and honor God and their elders. For this, the Lord blessed her abundantly with 93 years. Sarah quietly departed this life on Sunday evening, February 2, 2014, but she will forever live in our hearts and minds. Sarah was born on Thursday, September 16, 1920. Her parents were Rev.Randolph Vaughn, Sr. and Mrs. Annie Neal Vaughn, she was the fourth of six children. Sarah lived her entire life in the St. Louis Metropolitan area and graduated from Vashon High School in 1937. On October 10, 1937, (at the tender age of 17) she married the love of her life-Raymond Mitchell Beal Jr. They were married 62 years. To this union was added six children; one son and five daughters. Sarah and Raymond loved one another dearly and they exemplified working together as "one". People were always amazed by these two "little" people who were so powerful. Sarah loved God and she found strength in reading the Bible and the Daily Word devotions. She was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. As a child she enjoyed walking to Sunday School with her father, Reverend Randolph Vaughn, Sr. Sarah was a member of Unity Baptist Church (Kirkwood) for over 60 years where she faithfully worked with the Benevolent Fund. She found joy in sending cards, letters, and tokens of love to the sick and shut-in. She also had a gift for remembering "everyone's" birthday, especially her family and close friends. Sarah loved to lend a hand and to encourage anyone the Lord laid on her heart. "A lender, and not a borrower," truly describes Sarah. At an early age she would hide her money in her dresser drawer and capitalize on her siblings spending their money. Sarah "always" had money. She was a giver, but she was wise. She never gave you her last because she believed in having money to take care of business. Sarah could save something out of a penny. In fact she saved jars of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and her husband's tip money to purchase nearly an acre of land where they built their home in 1963. They resided there for over 40 years. "She riseth while it is yet night and giveth meat to her household. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness." Sarah took pride in her home. She was industrious, meticulous and highly organized. Sarah stayed at home and cared for her family until she began to work at Rexall Drugs as a sale clerk. She retired after 25 years in 1984. As an active resident of Kirkwood for over 60 years, Sarah was involved in several community and school organizations including the Suburban Ladies Social Club for over 50 years. Sarah was a role model to young and old. She was affectionately called "Red" by her siblings because of her long red hair, "Bunny" by her husband, and "Granny" by her host of grandchildren. "Blessed above measure" Sarah out lived many -preceding her in death were: her husband, Raymond Mitchell Beal; her youngest daughter, JoyDonna Beal; her third oldest grandchild, Craig Ernest Dempsey; all five siblings (3) brothers, Justice and Jessie Vaughn, "Uncle Son" -Randolph Jr..
