Life Reflections Sammie Mims was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on May 10, 1926. He was the third child born to the union of Joe and Jessie Mims, who preceded him in death. To this union five children were born, three sisters, Ethel, Lillian (Sweet) and Mattie who preceded him in death; two brothers, Willie and Joe who preceded him in death. He learned basic skills at an early age, he raised his siblings along with his father and loving step-mom. He later moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where he worked for the railroad and the City Hospital Number 1 and Homer G. Phillips where he retired. He also went to school to become a truck driver. During his journey in life he later united in marriage with Ruby Lee Ivory who preceded him in death. Six children wee conceived, four daughters, Loretha, who preceded him in death, Jean, Yvonne (a twin), who preceded him in death and Diane, two sons, Sam and Lee, two step-daughters, Marie and Sandra. he later united with Joann Mims. During this journey he confessed his life to Christ where he pastored Greater Sweet Home and Holy Grove and he devoted his life to helping the hungry in his pantry. Sammie enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He then retired until God called him home. He leaves to cherish: his kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, a host of nieces and nephews, (Popeye the Sailor Man). Interment: Oakdale Cemetery 3900 Mt. Olive St. Louis, MO 63125 .
