Roslyn Marquita Danner (1936 - 2020) Life Reflections Roslyn Marquita Danner, 84, peacefully returned to the loving arms of her maker and ruler in SSM St. Mary' s Hospital on morning of December 4, 2020 following a long battle with Covid-19. Roslyn is survived by her only son, Vincent L. Danner of Cleveland, OH and is preceded in death by her husband, Simmie Danner of St. Louis, MO. Roslyn was born in November 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to Rev. Fore C. and Elizabeth Wharry. She graduated from; Douglas High School in Webster Grove, Missouri in 1954; Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1958 with a degree in Music Education and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music with a Master of Music Degree in 1960. Rev. Wharry became the minister of Asbury United Methodist Church in St. Louis in 1961. Four years later she met Simmie Danner across the street from the parsonage and they were married on October 30, 1965. The couple welcomed their only child, Vincent Lee Danner, in May of 1966. She was a faithful and dedicated servant to her faith in the music ministry of Asbury, most notably with the youth choir. From the mid-1960's until her retirement in 1998, she dedicated her life to teaching music and general education in the St. Louis Public School System. Roslyn was not only an accomplished pianist and organist but as a mezzo-soprano and was long time member of the St. Louis Cosmopolitan Singers. She is remembered as talented, generous, kind, supportive and loving to all who knew her, and by her bright smile. Roslyn will be loved and remembered by her only son, Vincent, of whom she was most proud, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Service and Visitation will be not held due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. A memorial will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, 7800 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Louis, MO 63114 on Wednes-day, December 9, 2020 by William-James Mortuary, Inc. of St. Louis.
