Rosie Mae Wells-Hayes

Life Reflections Rosie Mae Wells was born in Coushatta, Louisiana on February 4, 1939 to the late Mildred and Elijah(Boozie) Wells. She was the third and last child born to this union. Rosie confessed a belief in Christ atan early age. Rosie attended Springville High School in Coushatta, Louisiana, where she was an excellent student and a Homecoming Queen. In 1957, Rosie graduated from Springville High School and went on to attendSouthern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There she met and lived with Mrs. Mamie Morrison, aninstructor who became her friend and mentor. On January 19, 1963 Rosie married the love of her life, Arthur Hayes. To this union five children wereborn. Rosie had two open heart surgeries and other health maladies, but she never complained. When she could no longer teach school, she choose to do alterations out of her home. Rosie was a loving and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She also had a strong work ethic,in addition to a kind and gentle spirit. Rosie loved to cook and sew. Her family was the focus of her life.Rosie was a proud member of First Community Baptist Church of Pagedale, formerly (First Baptist Churchof Maplewood), whereby she was known affectionately as Mother Hayes. In he early morning of Wednesday, June 10, 2015 Rosie Hayes departed this earthly life and entered intoher rest. She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles MacArthur Hayes (Chucky) and John Hayes. Rosie Hayes leaves many precious memories with her husband of fifty-two years. Arthur Hayes; a son, Roland Hayes of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Tammy Hayes (MacArthur Moten) of St. Louis, MO and ToniHayes (Ravi) of Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Betty Wells of Washington, DC; a sister-in-law, Emma (Robert)Blair of St. Louis, MO; a brother-in-law, Charles Hayes of St. Louis, MO; grandsons, Roland Hayes, Jr. ofWashington, DC and MacArthur Moten, Jr. of St. Louis, MO; a granddaughter, Josephine Moten of St. Louis;and a host of other family and friends. .
