My LifeI was born to the union of Roosevelt and Minnie (Collier) Davis on June 24, 1932. I was the eldest of seven children. Both parents, two siblings, and my daughter Seneca preceded me in death. I was educated in a "One room school house", Attucks Elementary School in Clayton, MO. Back in those days the school was segregated just for the African American children. I also attended Douglas High School in St. Louis. Later, I went to Harris Stowe State College where I received my high school equivalency diploma. I was employed and later retired after twenty-five long years from St. Louis State Hospital. I truly love the Lord. I confessed my hope in Christ and was baptized at 1st Baptist Church of Elmwood Park under the late A.W. Willis in 1958. I maintained my membership at Ist Baptist which is currently led by Pastor Brian K. Jackson. I sang in the Woman of Worship and Mass Choir. I also was an active member in the Mission Board. I didn't consider myself"old" enough to be a Mother on the Mother's Board, but I was affectionately known as a Mother of the Church. "I love my church; they mean so much to me". (Quoted May 24, 2010) I united in Holy Matrimony to Irvin Howard, Sr. To this union seven children were born. I leave to cherish my memory and legacy six children; Sherra (Orlando) Stowers, Irvin (Katherine) Howard, Jr., Antionette (Archie) Luss, Valerie (Wilbert) Williams, Anita (John) Moore, and Teresa (Reginald) Moore. Four sisters; Alberta Ragland, Norma J. Foster, Yvette Davis and Viviette Davis. Eighteen grandchildren, Thirty-five great grandchildren. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and mends. I was a gracious giver, a faithful worshipper, excellent cook, and a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Though I departed this life physically on June II, 2010 my loving spirit will last forever. This may be the end of my life here on earth, but the beginning of my eternal life with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
