Life Reflection
Ronnell "Tiny" Turner was born on November 30. 1951 in Stanton, Tennessee to the union of the late Mr. Thaddeus Howard Turner and Louisa Walker. He was the eighteenth child out of twenty children. There were thirteen boys and seven girls. Three sisters, Gertha Jones, Eva Sturgis, Elm, Pirtle, and six brothers, James, Frank, John, Wilbia. Torn, and Philemon Turner, Sr. all preceded him in death.
Tiny professed his hope in Christ at an early age at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Stanton, Tennessee. He graduated from Carver High School in 1969. Ronnell sang with his four brothers, John, Willie E., Wilbia and Donnell as The Turner Brothers for sixteen years. They recorded two 45 records. The songs they recorded were "Twelve Disciples" which he led and it was written by his brother Willie E., "Press On", "This Is The Lord's Plan" and "Oh How I Love Jesus". He also sang with The Turner Family where they recorded two CD's; the first one titled "Runnin for Jesus", and the second one titled "Learning to Lean".
Ronnell moved to St. Louis, MO in 1972 and joined Greater Mt. Airy Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Murphy Turner and later on under the leadership of Bishop Donnell Bell, Sr., where he served as Deacon, Senior Choir member, Choir Director, Choir President, Male Chorus, Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary, and Executive board member.
He worked at the Chrysler Corporation from 1973 until his retirement in 2008. He founded Turner Lawn Care, LLC in 1985 and worked it until his health failed. Turner, as his co-workers at Chrysler called him, was a man of many skills, traits and talents. He married Lucy Mooring on July 27, 1974 and they were blessed with two children, Myron Turner and Kalisha Turner. His favorite quote is "That's Life", he would say this when good things and bad things happened. May 24, 1974 Ronnell was called to preach and he accepted that calling on February 14, 2023, he told family, friends, his pastor and an overwhelming peace came over him.
On Thursday April 6, 2023 God called Ronnell from his Earthly home to be with Him in his Heavenly home. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of forty-eight years, Lucy Turner; son, Minister Myron Turner; daughter, Dr. Kalisha Turner-Hoskin (Jamarr); six grandkids, Kijana Turner, Zavier Hoskin, Jamiece Turner, Jarri Turner, Jamarr Hoskin, and Zion Hoskin all of St. Louis, MO; six brothers, ,Thaddeus (Celeste) Turner, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Willie E. (Diane) Turner; Wilson (Monica) Turner, Jonathan (Brenda) Turner. Donnell (Corine) Turner (twin) all of St. Louis, MO, and Willie B. (Shelia) Turner of Brownsville, TN; four sisters, Rachel Kearney, Wilma (Raymond) Boyd, Lurline Turner, and Judy (Freddy) Bond all of Stanton, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church members.. former co-workers and friends.
