Robert Givens, Sr.

Life ReflectionsRobert Givins, (Uncle Bobby) was the12th child born to Russell and Annie Givens on August 22, 1934. His parents and nine siblings preceded him in death. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Blackwell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Chruch. He never forgot guidance and teachings of God's Word he got from "Grannie" Rosie Givens. Robert was educated in the St. Louis County Public School System, attending Douglass Elementary and Douglass High Schools. Robert wanted to travel and explore the world and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He was proud to be a Marine and loved serving his country. After returning home from the Armed Forces, Robert married Annie Johnson, and to this union seven children were born. Annie went home to be with the Lord in 1994. Robert retired from Bristol-Meyers Squid July of 1990, after a long career as a line supervisor. Robert leaves to cherish his memory: Four sons; Michael (Sheila), Bruce (Kim), Robert, and Brad, three daughters; Joyce, Donna, and Theresa, two grandsons; Robert and Waylon; Six Granddaughters; Keydra, LaKeysha, Ranndi, Jenay, Ashley, and Talor, Three great Grandchildren; Jaden, Tehshaun, and Jaylon, one brothers-in-law; David and Melvin, two sisters-in-law; Hazel and Dorothy, as well as a host of other relatives and friends, including George (Junie) Brock, with whom he shared a special bond.
