Life ReflectionGEORGE S. WILSON, was born to George and Maggie Wilson on October 6, 1931 in Tupelo, Mississippi. f1e was one of eight children. After the death of his mother at age 5, his family moved to Wilson, Arkansas. There he accepted Christ and was baptized at the Macedonia Baptist Church. In 1948, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Afterwhich, he served four years in the U.S. Army and was f1onorably Discharged. George returned to St. Louis, and in 1955 he met and married Earlene f1ayes. Of that union, four sons and one daughter were born. f1e was employed at McDonnell Aircraft until his retirement in 1993 after 39 years of service. f1e was inducted into the Masonic Cable Tow Lodge # 167 where he served for many years. f1e was called to God's Ministry over forty years ago when he was licensed and Ordained by Reverend Robert S. Johnson, Sr. In 1991, he was called to the pastorate at the Lily f1ill Baptist Church of East St. Louis, IL. George had an outstanding ability to renovate, rebuild and restore, so during the 19 years of service at Lily f1ill, he and the men of the church, added a new edifice, kitchen and dining area. f1e was proud of the church and the work that was done and served faithfully until his illness. f1e was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at home with his family. f1e leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted ~ife of 56 years, Earlene; three sons, George, Anthony, and Darryl; one daughter, Sylvia; two sisters, Esther Clark and Sue Watkins; one brother, Willie Wilson, Sr. (Luef1ester); five grandsons, Arman, Kyle, Anthony, Edwin, and Johnny; three granddaughters, Kayla, Tina, and Antoinette; three great-grandchildren; nieces, Terri Murray, Cornelia Stevens (f1enry), and Marvell f1enderson; seven sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him. f1is oldest son, George, five brothers and his parents preceded him in death.
