Life Reflections Celebrating the Life of Pauline Elizabeth Henson Pauline Elizabeth Clay was born on July 21, 1923 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was the oldest of ten children born to Rev. Charles John an Emma Jean (Greenfield) Clay. Pauline found Christ as the early age and was baptized at First Baptist Churh in Kinloch, MO. She later became the paianist for the Sunday School. She attended Dogulas High School in Webster Groves, MO where she graduated at 16 years old and went on to earn her Bachelor's of Science Degree from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO as well as over thirty hours towards her Master's Degree at SIU-Edwardsville. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Grover C. Henson, Jr., on April 23, 1954. To that union they wer blessed with four children: Ronald, Madye, Charles and Grover Aaron. Besides being an awarded artist with one of her paintings, Carter's Little Filling Station, having toured the country in 1945 as a part of the Atlanta Annual Art Exhibition and featured in Time Magazine. Her career spanned fifty years working in Social Services and Education. She worked for the City of St. Louis, Human Development Corporation (HDC), Kinloch Public Schools, and retired as a teacher in 1994 from Ritenour Hich School after twenty (20) years of service. Pauline served her community and church faitfully, including PTA President, Block Unit Captain, Ford Community School leader, member of Sigma Gamma Rho, etc. For nearly forty (40) years she served as a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School pianist, teacher and gifted church decorator. Pauline lived a long and fulfilled life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She had a sense of humor and loved her family and friends. She was a giver. Her true gifts of art & crafts, sweing, decorating and cooking were truly bestowed by GOD and she willingly shared them. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grover, Jr.; brother Thaddeus; sisters, Hope & Barbra Jean; and her youngest son, Aaron. Pauline leaven to cherish her memory; her children, Ronald (wife Michelle), Madye, and Charles; Siblings - Charles R. Clay (Detroit, MI), Roy L. Clay (Northern. CA), Myrtle Bridges (Detroit, MI), Imogene Whaley (Los Angeles, CA), Haile S. Clay (Northern, CA), William E. Clay (Costa Rica), Grandchildren - Aaron, III, Ronald, Kayla, Elese, Rhyan, Kyle, Darryn, Rheanna, Kristopher and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to which she will be missed. Interment: Jefferson Barracks National Cemeter 2900 Sheridan St. Louis, MO 63126 .
