Life ReflectionsOcie William Tate was born June 10, 1949 to John Marion and Jessie Octavia Tate in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the fourth of five children. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jessie Tate, and one brother, Arlandrew Tate. Ocie accepted Christ at an early age. He attended the elementary and secondary school in the Kirkwood Public School System. He attended college at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri as well as Tennessee State University where he majored in Law and Business. Ocie married Yvonne Woods and to this union two sons, Darris and Kellan Tate, were born. Ocie's real passion was music. As a keyboardist and lead vocalist, he performed with a number of bands. Two of the bands Ode performed with were 44 East and The Falcons.He was also a writer and composer with the bands he performed with until his illness forced him to retire from performing. Ocie W. Tate transitioned to the other side to begin a new life on Friday June 5, 2009.He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Yvonne Tate; sons, Darris Tate (Huntsville, Alabama) and Kellan Tate (St. Louis, Missouri); one brother, John M. Tate, Jr. (Frances), (EI Mirage, Arizona); two sisters, Hallien Morton (Oklahoma City, Oklahoma), and Octavia Hicks (Gary) (Kirkwood, Missouri), and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friendsInternment: Lake Charles CemeterySaint Louis, Missouri .
