Mrs. Tommie Key Smith Our Big Mama, Tommie Key Smith was born February 19, 1907 t Ella Corbin and Barry Key inMagnolia, Arkansas. Big Mama is the last of 18 children. She was raised on her family's form,where she said she learned the importance of hard work. Big Mama said at the young age of 9 or 10 years of age she accepted Jesus as her personalLord and Savior and to this day she still loved the Lord. Big Mama was a loving mother of 10 children and was married to the late Tommy Smith. Formany years until her retirement she did domestic work, a job in which she took pride in workingfor several affluent families in the Kirkwood area. She gained a reputation for being very depend-able and hardworking. Big Mama has been a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church of Kirkwood, Missouri where sheattended for many years until her health begin to fail. Some of her children are members theretoday. She loved to travel, go fishing, gardening, crocheting and quilting. Big Mama's message to her family is to accept Jesus as you Lord and Savior and always pray. She is preceded in death by 2 sons, Lonnie Smith and Earl Smith. She is survived by: 8 children Emma Jean Sargent of Magnolia, Arkansas, Lottie Smith, Fred Smith, Kathleen Wiggins, Beatrice Smith, Eddie Smith, Norma Johnson and Larry Smith all of St. Louis, Missouri.Big Mama has 47 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren and 80 great-great-grandchildren, a host ofnieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. .
