Minnie Ora Shepperd

Life Reflection



Minnie Ora Reed (Shepperd) was born to Lullie and Parker Reed on April 1, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Both parents, 2 sons, Tommy and Joseph, 2 granddaughters, Tabitha and Susie, and her husband, Richard Shepperd preceded her in death. Minnie attended Romulus school in Ralph, Alabama.


She confessed a hope in Christ at age 13 and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church..


She met and married M.C. Taylor and to this union a son, Rayford was born. She divorced Mr. Taylor, met and married Joseph Pippens, Sr., then moved to St. Louis, MO in 1951. To this union 9 children were born. Minnie joined True Light Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend R. L. Johnson in Kinloch, MO; she later moved her membership to Church of God In Christ under Pastor Estell Gregory. Her husband, Mr. Joseph Pippens died and Minnie moved to Kirkwood, MO.


She worked as a Nurse Aide for many years at Hill Topp Nursing Home.


Minnie joined Douglas Memorial Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Elder Bobby Scales. She remained there as the leadership changed to Elder Eugene Jones and served as an Usher Captain and helped serve Communion.


She met and married Richard Shepperd in 1981. Minnie loved fishing, gardening and flowers.


She leaves many relatives and friends to cherish her memory. Minnie is survived by one sister, Hattie Newton of Texas; her children, Rayford, Estell Hazel (James), Sharon, Deborah, Gary (Becky), Danny and Theresa.
