Life Reflection Minnie L. Weathersey Mills was born on April 19,1932 to Claude Weathersby and Annie Bell Norwood in Prentiss, Mississippi. She was the seventh of eight children and leaves to cherish a brother, Fred Weathersby of St. Louis. In 1950, she decided farm life Was simply not for her and she relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. After a brief stay, she settled in St. Louis, Missouri and began raising a family: Michael, Lyndia, Helen, Wilma, Constance,Janet, Elizabeth, James, Cheryl and Patrick. As the loving mother of such a large family, she was no stranger to hard work.it didn't take long before she set her sights on becoming an entrepreneur. Having a keen eye for buying antiques, a love she shared with her mother, she opened her 'first business, a resale shop. Always on the lookout for better opportunities, she was one of few women to train and secure a job as a welderat American Car Foundry. When the company closed, she moved on putting her cooking skills to the test working for several local hotel. restaurants. This experience prompted her to open her own successful family restaurantThe Fish Stop. Patrons came from miles around for a taste of her fried pies, tripe and a variety of soul food delicacies. Upon retirement, in the twilight of her years, she enjoyed a wonderfully blessedlife re-siding with Elizabeth who afforded her every convenience and comfort inlife. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, sewing, gospel music and of course cookingfor family holidays. Her memory was sharp and she enjoyed telling stories of thelife she lived growing up in the rural south and her experiences coming to a bigcity. Although life was harsh at times, her memories were a source of inspiration, laughter and joy as she always found a silver lining in the fabric of life. Minnie, now leaves to cherish her memory; a dear brother, seven children, three (Lyndia, Constance and Patrick) have preceded her in death, 29 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
