Michael Cooper, Jr.

June 12, 1947 — May 16, 2015

Life reflections Michael Cooper, Sr. was born June 12, 1947 in Webster Groves, Missouri to Irving Alonzo Bailey, Sr. and Margaret Cooper Bailey. He was educated in the Webster Groves School District where he attended Douglass Elementary, Steger Junior High and Webster Groves High Schools. Following his high school years, Michael joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Saratoga. While in service he met Rosalyn Patricia Colbert of Tulsa, Oklahoma and a firm love developed between them. They were married on June 19, 1965, and to this union two sons, Michael, Jr. and Kendric Darnell were born. Michael was a hard worker. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Michael immediately found work as Wonder Bread as a route sales delivery driver; he delivered various snacks, bread and other baked goods al over the city of Saint Louis. With his free time, Michael enjoyed playing pool, watching sports, especially wrest- ling and boxing, and driving big cars like his yellow deuce and a quarter back in the day or his Blazer in these later years. Michael's caring nature and good sense of humor earned him many life-long friends. If you called him a Popeye the sailor man, he would laugh and say, "You're right!" He was strong and always ready for an adventure or what- ever was going on, and he greatly loved his wife, Pat, his children, his family and friends, Michael was a good, wonderful person who truly cared for people. He did not use words like "I thought of you to- day," as a conversation starter. When he said it, he really meant it and showed it by his actions: He knew what you liked and whether it was a Zinger, a good old Sundrop soda, or a few pieces of the best liver in the country he would get it and bring it to you and say, "I thought about you today and thought you might like this." Michael was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, one brother (Lamont) and one sister (Patricia). Michael leaves to cherish and remember his life: his loving wife, Rosalyn; his sons, Michael Cooper, Jr., Kendric Darnell Cooper, and Darian Penny; his brothers, Melvin (Darcy), Stephen (Vera), Kenneth (Martha), Harley, Sanford (Darla), Kinji (LaVonda), Irving, Jr. (Janice); his sisters, Cynthia and Diane; two aunts, Alice Rollins and Norma Cooper; one uncle, Eugene Cooper; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Colbert and Trellia Jackson; five brothers-in-law, Brian Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Alhon Jackson, Damien Jackson, and Lloyd Colbert; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Interment: J.B. National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan St. Louis, MO 63126 .
