Life Reflections

Maxine Whiteside was born on October 7, 1946 to Ruthie Mae and A.C. Blackwell. Her husband, Wesley Whiteside, son, Wayne, mother, father, sister, Evan and brother, Wallace preceded her in death. Maxine lived her life serving the Lord to the best of her ability, due to her circumstances.

Maxine was baptized at an early age and later attended New Covenant Full Gospel Church. She was a charter member under Rev. Roy McGowan, where she served faithfully and diligently until her health failed in 2020.

Maxine was educated at J. Milton Turner School in Meacham Park and later attended the Kirkwood School District.

Maxine was married in 1963 to Melvin Cooper and to that union three children were born, Wayne, Devin and Kimberly.

In 1998, Maxine met and married Wesley Whiteside and to that union Brandon Whiteside was born.

Maxine worked in the baby ward at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kirkwood for ten years. Later, she joined Washington University School of Medicine where she worked for 35 years, until retirement.

On Friday, June 23, 2023, Maxine received her wings and transitioned peacefully and quietly to her mansion in the sky.

Maxine leaves to cherish her precious, beloved memories: two sons, Devin Cooper (Dana), Brandon Whiteside (Tiarra); daughter, Kimberly Givens (Bruce); grandchildren, Devin Cooper, Jr., Waylon Cooper, Brandon Givens and Ashley Givens; six great-grand-children, Jaylon, Brielle, Lyndyn, Major, Legend and 19.J.; sister, Doris Moore; sister-in-law, Sandra Whiteside; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
