Maxine Ethel Saddler Washignton Edwards was born February 14,1939 to Frank and Minnie Saddler in St. Louis, MO. Both parents and siblings Felda, Frances, and Hardy preceded her in death. Maxine was a proud graduate of Charles Sumner High School (Class of 1956). She furthered her education at Hadley Technical school as a cook. She faithfully worked there for 34 years until her health casued her to retire in 2000. Maxine will always be known for her culinary skills. Maxine's first marriage to William Washington unfortunately ended in divorce. In 1969, she united in holy matirmony with Daniel Edwards. They shared love and life fir 38 years until his passing on February 20, 2008. To this union one (1) child was born; Paulette Elein Maxine and her family united with Dickerson Memorial Community Church when she was a young child. Throughout the years, she ised her gifts of cooking, paino playing and singing to give God glory, and to bring joy to the congregation. Maxine was the pianist for the church for well over 30 years. She was also a musician for Musick Baptist as well. Her commitment and dedication to Dickerson never wavered. She chaired many programs, and fundraisers. She remianed a dedicated member of the church even as her health began to fail. Maxine was social and loved to be surrounded by those she loved. She once was active with the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the "Bold and the Beautiful" social club and enjoyed attending meetings and outings with the ladies. Maxine had a very close relationship with her girlfriends, many of whom she referred to as her "Sisters" becasue she knew them for well over 40 years. While surrounded by her family and friends, Maxine made her much deserved transtion from labor to reward on Saturday, March 7, 2009, 1:15 p.m. at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. Even as Maxine's health failed, her spirit remained strong. Her ability to keep going in spite of was a testimony to many. She was a constant source of encouragement to all and she will be missed immensely. Maxine leaves to cherish her loving daughter, Paulette, two (2) brothers; Frank Saddler Jr, (LaVerne) and Charles Saddler, a great Aunt, Eunice Toney, Sister-in-laws; Arvella Edwards, Bernice Edwards, Peggy Brown, Sylvia Edwards, and June Edwards-Foster of Saint Louis, MO. Leonnia Edwards of Grenada, MS, God-Father Percy Cox, a host of nieces, nephews (great, and great-great). Additionally, the entire Dickerson Memorial Community Chruch family, all of her "Sisters", Sumner Class of '56, a whole bunch of friends, neighbors, the patients and staff of Davita Dialysis (West), and special caregiver, Marilyn Hawkins.
