Mattie Lois Burgett

May 31, 1939 — November 4, 2022

Mattie Lois Hutch Burgett was born May 31, 1939, to Ardie Bea Pearson and Lee Lovain Hutch, in Milan, Tennessee. She moved to St. Louis as a child and resided in Meacham Park. Mattie attended school at J. Milton Turner, Douglass High School for one year, and graduated from Kirkwood Sr. High School in 1957.

Mattie was married to Lloyd J. "June Bugg" Burgett. From their love, two sons were born, Michael Lynn and Bruce Hutch. Her sons were the joys of her heart. As boys, Mattie would keep Michael and Bruce freshly pressed and looking good. Both June and Michael, along with her sisters, Ardie Mae Dudley, Marie "Toni" Watkins and Yolanda Hutch preceded her in death.

As a young girl, Mattie joined First Baptist Church of Meacham Park. She later became a member of St. Matthew Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She was an usher until her health would no longer allow her to serve. Mattie would often call upon family and friends to support fundraising efforts, and many times she would proudly raise the most money.

Mattie was employed by St. Louis Children's Hospital. When she retired in 2004, she was happy not to have to rise early in the morning. She vowed she would then sleep until noon and most days she did.

Mattie was a member and treasurer of Club 44 which she called "44 Club". She enjoyed their bus trips together.

Mattie was a loving grandmother to Michelle, Billy, Lloyd June, Jermaine Jay, Bruce, Jazmyn, Keydra, Yolanda, Christopher, Courtney, Brandon, Deaundrea, and William. She loved hearing about what the Great Grandchildren were up to and would put a little something in their hands when they came to visit. Mattie was also Grandma to quite a few other children. They all affectionately called her "Maw Maw".

The Lord called Mattie home on November 4, 2022. She leaves her children, Bruce & Rhonda Burgett of Kirkwood, Lloyd Albert & Grace Burgett of Duluth, Georgia, Cavitt and Otis Washington of Maryland; 13 grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren, Sydney, Aysia, Damon, Dylan, Christyna, Karla, Bruce, Jaden, Jarrell, Brooklyn, Steele and Stone; sisters, Agnes Phipps, Linda Jones, Sharon Pearson, and Coreatha Hutch; brothers, Jerry Hutch, Glen Hutch and Dennis Hutch; Brothers-in-law, Thomas Watkins and Ronald Jones, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
