Life ReflectionsMary Corene Thompson was born on May 12, 1930 in Angie, Louisiana to Naomi Brown and Delos Thompson. She was the third of Naomi's four children. While still very young Mary's family moved to Columbia, Mississippi to live with adopted parents Mary and Henry Clark. Mary was employed by Dr. J.S. Haney of Columbia, Mississippi for many years. After retiring from Dr. Haney's service, she worked at the Marion County Public Library. Mary loved her work and built lasting friendships during her years with Dr. Haney and the library. Mary was a Christian. While attending services at the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia, under the pastorship of Reverend O.W. Spates, she professed her love for Christ at a very early age. Mary was a dedicated, active member of her church. For more than 30 years she served as president of the usher board. In September of 2006, at the request of her nephews, Robert and Willie, she reluctantly left her home, friends and her beloved church in Columbia. Mary found new accommodations in St. Louis, Missouri. She resided in the home of her sister-in-law, Charlean. Determined to remain faithful and obedient to God's word, she found a new pastor in Reverend Oliver K. Patterson, Sr. and a new church home at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she attended services regularly. Due to failing health, in September 2008, Mary moved into Beauvais Manor On The Park where she resided until her passing. To cherish her memory, she leaves: two sisters, Helen Williams of Bogalusa, Louisiana and Maxine Wiggins of Houston, Texas; two special nephews, Robert Earl Jones and Willie B. Pearson, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Charlean Pearson, Mamie Jones and Brenda Baylis all of St. Louis, Missouri. Mary's parents, the Clarks and her three brothers, Willie B. Pearson, Sr., Joe R. Jones and John Baylis preceded her in death. Mary also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to embrace many wonderful memories and to celebrate her life.
