Life ReflectionsMarla Taylor Martin was born on January 11, 1948 in St. Louis, MO, the second child born to the union of James and Eleanor Taylor, who preceded her in death. She was educated in the St. Louis Public School system. She graduated from Soidan High School in 1966. She also attended Harris Stove State College and Forest Park Communi0) College. Marla married Morman Keaton in 1969 and to that union her only child, Marnee' Lynnette was born. After completing her education, she worked for the United States Post Office, Crane National Vendors, Jeans West, Southwestern Bell and eventually retired from Lucent Technologies. Marla accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She started driving the church van for Church of the Living God, C.W.F.F. Temple #29. In 1991, she married Minister Michael Martin, who preceded her in death. She was a faithful member, Missionary, and First Lady of the Church of the Living God. Marla was very active in her church and community, who brought many souls to Christ. She organized the youth choir and directed programs and plays for various holidays and events. She also organized various Women's Ministry cornmunity service events and programs. Her community contributions include work with Fox Park Youth Inc., local Police substation ride-alongs, Faith House, NAACP, United Negro College Fund, Christmas in April and Bikes for Kids. Her awards include the Board of Education Outstanding Volunteer Award, ABLE National Angel Award for Outstanding Community Service, ABLE Outstanding Member Award, and Fox Park Association Outstanding in Communny Service Award. She also met President Bill Clinton in 1996, where they discussed the Fox Park Initiative. On July 7th, 2017, Marla was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her memory. Her daughter, Marnee' Keaton, her partner, Sheree' Gramby and two children Amani and Akil Steele. Her siblings Francine (Billie) Bollinger, Kent (Linda), Taylor and Kim (Johnnie) Thimes.
