Marjorie Shirley Williams

August 4, 1933 — December 22, 2015

Life Reflections Ms. Marjorie S. (King) Williams was born to Irvine King and Viola McRoberts Watley on August 4, 1933 in St. Louis, MO. Not too long before, her family had migrated from New York City to St. Charles, MO, finding the metro area to be suitable home for their family. It was also in St. Louis that Marjorie met and entered into the sacrament of holy matrimony with Frederick Chandler Williams on June 8, 1956. Mr. Williams preceded her in death. An independent woman through-and-through, Marjorie carried on as the family bread-winner after her husband's passing. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) devoted her entire career to being a care-taker for individuals with physical and mental disabilities at institutions such as Alexian Brothers, Barnes Hospitals, The School for Blind and St. Louis Disability and Developmental. The loving mother epitomized the term hard worker, devoting long hours to ensure quality care for others and to keep food on the table for her family. Indeed, faith and family were important to Marjorie. As a devoted Catholic she regularly attended services at St. Ann Church. In her spare time, Marjorie liked to sew. In fact she used her knack for sewing clothes to alter/mend outfits to keep her three children looking good: Warren, Denise and Bradwick Williams. She was a feisty individual with a great sense of humor. Marjorie also enjoyed taking a few moments to dance with the children to her favorite tunes on the radio. Marjorie is survived by three children; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Williams; along with her three sisters, Rosalind Scott. Janet Watley and Christine Levine; 13 grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren. Earlier this year one grandchild preceded her in death. In life Marjorie took solace in the 23rd Psalm. "The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me besides the still waters." In the afterlife we know that she will "dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery 5200 Lucas -Hunt Road St. Louis, MO 63121 .
