Mable Smith

March 29, 1931 — December 29, 2016

Life ReflectionsMable Martin Smith was born March 29, 1931. She was the oldest of nine, born to the union of George and Louise Martin. Both parents preceded her in death. She was raised in Richmond Heights, Missouri and received her education in the St. Louis Public Schools. She moved to Chicago at an early age and married William Smith on January 16, 1965. She returned to St. Louis in 1987 to care for her father. Mable was a member of the First Church of God in Richmond Heights in the 1940s under the leadership of Elder Walker and served as Secretary of Sunday School. Later on Mable renewed her faith under the leadership of Pastor Timothy Hatter and served on the Usher Board. She remained faithful until her heath failed. She did private duty work, and worked at Romans Jewelry, as well as Richmond Terrace Senior Living where she retired. Miss Mable is what she was called, and would greet everybody with "Hey Baby". She loved jazz. Mable was the life of any party and was full of energy. Miss Mable loved her family, especially her granddaughter "Tea Cup" Shwa Marie Allen, and was loved by everyone. Mable peacefully submitted to the call of the Master on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home. Her mother and father, husband, William Smith, one son, Willard Martin, two sisters, Lois Pore and Sally Nelson, two nieces, Torrie Foreman and Geogetta Gray, and one grandson, Torrez Reynolds, all preceded her in death. Miss Mable leaves to cherish her memory: a loving granddaughter Shang Marie Allen; a grandson - LaShaun (Santrell) Reynolds; several great grandchildren; three brothers - Melvin (Sylvia) Martin, Joseph Marlin and Steven (Peggy) Martin; three sisters - Geogetta Vaughn, Audrey Lindsey and Gwendolyn (Charles Mundy); a special aunt "- Yvonne Jackson of Chicago, Illinois; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; she was a special friend to - Ms. Mary Pickett of Louisville, Kentucky, Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Coffee of St. Louis, Missouri and cousin Shirley Bradly of Evanston, Illinois. The link is missing from a very strong chain, but not broken, as the Martin siblings are a very close family. J.B. National Cemetery2900 Sheridan AvenueSt. Louis, MO 63125 .
