Lula Theresa Toler

Life Reflections Lula Theresa Toler affectionately known as "Ma-T" was born July 24, 1925 in Birmingham, AL to Governor and Easter Stepps. She was one of ten children. She was preceded in death by both parents. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Elijah, Jim and Eli; and sisters, Guess, Suzanna, Nattie and Jean. Lula received her education in the Portland, AR public school system. She wasalsoadedicatedemployeeofJewishflospital and the University City public school system. She retired from the University City public school system. She was united in holy matrimony to Roy Toler. To this union eight children were born. Three of her children, Susie, Fronle. and Arthur preceded her in death. Lula accepted Christ at an early age at the Number 2 Baptist Church in Portland, AR. She continued her walk with Christ when she joined the Fifth Missionary Baptist Church in 1972. She served faithfully as a member on the mothers' board until her health failed her. Lula was a woman of God, and her unwavering faith and humble spirit allowed her to be an inspiration and blessing to many. God saw that his faithful servant was tired and called her home to rest on November 16, 2013 at 8:38 p.m. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Annette (Earl) Cannon and Vera Polite; three sons, Dwight (Michelle) Toler, Ray Toler, and Lawrence Toler; twenty-eight grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren, twenty-eight great-greatgrandchildren; one brother, Henry Lee Grubbs; one sister, Florida Chattman: and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Also left to cherish fond memories are her close cousin, Jessie (Ray)Woods and her two caregivers, Catherine Cowper and Racine Curry. Interment: Lake Charles Cemetery St. Louis, MO .
