Life Reflections Lula Mae Scott-Ellis was born on December 21st, 1924 in Raymond, Mississippi to James and Sophronia Scott. She was one . of ten children. Raised in a hard working family of share croppers, Lula Mae was the designated caretaker for the family and spent the majority of her time cooking and housekeeping for this large family. Skills learned doing these chores would help her later in life with her own large family. She was raised to believe in God and in the Bible. On December 25th, 1940 Lula Mae married Charlie Ellis. Shortly afterwards they moved to St. Louis, Missouri and began their own family. To this union 10 Children were born (Charlie Jr., Gerry, Earline, Dorothy, Larry, Gean, Brenda, John, Raymond and Joseph). She spent her time cooking, cleaning, taking care of her family and attending church. Later in life, Lula Mae set out as a single parent with 2 young boys to raise. During this time and until her death she was an independent woman. She used her skills learned in youth to support herself as a cook and housekeeper. She liked to garden and cook, always having something fresh to eat, even in the dead of winter. She also liked fishing and raising her Maltese dogs which she sold on several occasions. She believed in God and attended church on Sundays and on revival nights. Internment: Oak Grove Cemetery Saint Louis, Missouri .
