Lucille Landers

March 28, 1924 — February 7, 2017

Life ReflectionsLucille was born March 28, 1924 to the union of Nellie (King) Beat and Willis Beal in Jackson, Missouri. At an early age, Lucille and her mother moved to St. Louis, Missouri. Lucille met and fell in love with a handsome sailor Varnie Landers (who proceeded her in death). They were married on January 20, 1946. To this union two daughters were born Ruby Carol (who preceded her in death) and Sharon Louise. In 1960 Lucille gave birth to a son, Wayne Lydell. In 1961 Lucille and her family moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Because her passion was ironing and cleaning, she began to do domestic work for various families who grew to love her like she was family. After her mother's death in 1974, Lucille remained in Cape Girardeau until 1980 when she moved to Robertson, Missouri to be near her daughter and grandchildren. In no time, Lucille became part of the Davidson family who loved her like another mother and grandmother. One month after moving to Robertson, Lucille began working for Mitch Murcia Maintenance Management Company where she worked at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals Company as a dishwasher for test tubes used in the labs. She retired on November 15, 1990. In 1991, Lucille moved to St. Andrews of Jennings where she lived until she became a resident of Christian Care home in June of 2011. Because Lucille was raised as a Methodist, she joined McKinney Chapel in Robertson. When it was torn down in 1995, she joined the remaining members and moved her membership to Murchison Tabernacle CME Church. After visiting first Missionary Baptist Church of Robertson with her daughter and grandchildren, Lucille began to feel right at home. She joined the ministry in 2004 under the leadership of Rev. Cornelius J. Osby where she actively served on the Mothers Board until her health began to fail .On Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 4:18 p.m., with loved ones by her side, God knew she was tired and called her home. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Sharon Davidson and Wayne Landers; three grand-children, Tawnya Davidson, DeMarco Davidson and Christian (Melissa) Miller; two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Piper Miller; and two god-great-grandchildren, Corey and Courtney Graham; the Davidson family; and a host of cousins, other family, and friends; and her cousin (who was more like a sister), Maxine Cole.
