Luberta Gill

Life ReflectionLuberta (Lee) Gill was born Thursday, November 30, 1922 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. She was the fourth of five children born to the union of Reverend Hulitt Sanford and Louvena Bledsoe Lee. Raised in Robertson, Missouri, Luberta graduated from Doug- lass High School in Webster Groves, Missouri. She later received a certificate and license in Cosmetology from Harris-Stowe. Following a lengthy career in cosmetology she became an Office Assistant and mother figure at Maplewood/Richmond Heights High School where she worked until retirement in 1985. She entered into holy matrimony with Clyde GilL September 11, 1955. To this union two children were born - Rodney Irving, December 23, 1956 and Lori Ann, April 17, 1962. God called Rodney home at the tender age of eight. Clyde was called home to rest October 1992. She also shared a brief marriage with Clarence Poindexter. Luberta professed her hope in Christ and united with The First Baptist Church of Robertson in Robertson, Missouri. Later she became a member of Unity Church of Christianity where she was a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. In June 1979 she moved her membership to The First Baptist Church of Elmwood Park, where she worked diligently on the Pastor's Aid Committee, Vacation Bible School and the Mother's Board. Her love for her First Baptist Church of Elmwood Park family was unwavering. Luberta went to be with the Lord and her heavenly family on Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 7:07 p.m. She was surround- ed by her daughter and grandson at Bentley Extended Care. She is- survived by: her daughter, Lori Ann; grandson, Loren Ahmad; sister, Pollie Burks; nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring and devoted friends.
