Lorrene Ann Hackett

Life Reflection


Ann Lorrene Thomas was born on August 9, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri, the only daughter to Earl Howard and Annette Compton Thomas. Her parents, "Daddy" Henry L. Roberts, her oldest brother Earl "Junior", daughter Renee, great-grandmother Sarah Kitchen known as "Mama Sarah" and her husband Harold, all preceded her in death.


Lorrene was educated in the St. Louis public school system attending Dunbar Elementary and Sumner High school. She graduated from Vashon Nigh School in 1958. Extending her education she attended Forest Park Community College, graduating in 1988 with 'an Associate Arts Degree. She was a preschool teacher until her retirement in 2012.


As a young Christian believer, she openly accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and joined Jamison Memorial CME Church. She was called into ministry in 1985 and was ordained as a Minister in 1989 at Lane Tabernacle CME Church in St Louis, Missouri.


She served as an Associate Minister at Cornerstone institutional Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Melvin Smotherson Pastor and Founder. In 1992 Lorrene relocated to Ontario, California where she and Harold were joined in holy matrimony. There she established her membership with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Associate Minister under the leadership of Reverend Larry Thomas.


Her fraternal journey was a road to love, joy and beauty. She served faithfully as a member of Zephaniah Chapter #70, OES, Worthy Matron, Madinah Court #15, Burial team as Ruth. When Lorrene relocated to Comona, California, she joined Silver Star #89 OES.


She leaves to cherish her memories, one son Keith, one brother Ronald, sister-in-law Annette Rivers, 3 adults stepchildren, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Cousins/ and a host of family and friends.
