Life Reflections Lola Mae Pegues-Benson was born April 20, 1921 to Donnie and Dale Pegues in Oxford, Mississippi. Lola was the third eldest of five children. Her husband Wayman, Sr., mother, father, two sisters Cora Pegues and Min. Virginia Tyus preceded her in death. Lola received her early education through the Mississippi Public School System. Lola started her journey with Christ in 1951 and later came in the knowledge of the oneness of God and baptized under the Pastorship of Bishop Phillip Lee Scott. In 1938, Lola Mae marries Waymon Benson, Sr. to this union they were blessed with two sons, Berry and Waymon, Jr. Lola sang with the Senior Choir, the Day Choir and was a Senior usher until her health failed. In June 2009, Lola was stricken with a paralyzing stroke. On Saturday, October 24, 2009 the Lord called Lola home. Lola leaves to cherish her memory: her two sons Berry (Stella) and Wayman, Jr. (Christella), one sister, Annie Bell Ward, one brother, Henry Earl Pegues; one sister-in-law, Onnie Benson, sixteen grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren, an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends, her church family and other loved ones. Lola truly loved her Pastor and First Lady. Internment: Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens 2000 N.
