Lloyd Meric Thompson

July 17, 1930 — April 26, 2014

Life Reflections Lloyd Emeric Thompaon was the most caring husbnd and father anyone could ask for. he worked and worked until body had nothing left to give. All to nsure his wife Ella and sons; Lloyd, Jr., Raamah, Anthony, Kevin and Christopher had everything they needed to succeed in life. he often boasted "I raised five boys and non of them ever got into any trouble wit the lae." Those who knew Lloyd can tell you, nyone living under his roof would never think of doing anything leadint to trouble with the law. Lloyd Thompson was one of the most trifty persons wver to walk the earth. he had a severe allergy to anything brand new. This never created a problem because Lloyd Thompson was the best handyman/mechanic ever to turn a wrench. he took the saying "Do it yourself" and made it his creed, All plumbers, electricians and carpernters know they would never get a service call from 8531 Midwood. Much to the delight of his sons, he could fix anything with a motor in it. Lloyd had a God-given talent for eing able to spot the cause of a mechanical problem. He alsohad a gift for fiding a quick and more importantly, economical solution to that problem. His skills facilitated the repair and restoration of many classic cars an dhe was often approached by potential buyers when they saw one of his projects on the road. Once while working on one of his vehicles, Lloyd, Sr. came inside and made a simple statement of his sons all watching T.V., "I hope all a ya'll make a lo of maney when you gorow up so you can always have a new car", Raamah, at about 14 thought to himself "I don't think i'm gonna always have a new car" and when outdide to help/watch his father and began to learn as much as he could about auto repair. That decision turned in a 40 year bound of vehicle repair trande techniques that included savages yard rns with talks on every conceivable subject at least once a year continuing even after leaving the STL area. Lloyd had no tolerance for anythig less that the best effort from all of his sons. He believed there were two ways to do things...the right way and again. Oce, Lloyd, Jr. came home holding a report card containing A's in every subject except for a B in history. He expected high praise from his father. He didn't receive praie juat a challenge to make the next report call all A's. At the time, Lloyd, Jr. walked away feeling unappreciated. later he understoon that his father was onlyt trying to make sure his ons would never be happy with 2nd best. There are those who pass away an those that have earned the ight to rest in peace. Lloyd Thompson was the latter. he understood that raising a family as not a 9 to 5 job. He knew that being a good father and husband meant you were on the cloct 24/7 with no vacations, sick days or coffee breaks. Although he lived a full life, perhaps the world would b a better place if he found time to teach classes on what it takes to be the head of a household. May God bless you Lloyd Thompson.
