Life Reflection
"My only task is to finish the race"
Linda Antoinette Bowen was born on November 13, 1951, to the union of Harold W. Bowen
and Adele Nail in St. Louis, Missouri. Linda was the only child of this union; however, she
would soon become the eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents
and her loving brother, Keith Lee, Sr. Early on, Linda experience the agape love of Jesus Christ.
She accepted Him as her personal Lord and Savior through-out her life she was obedient to
the call of God and served her family, friends, and those she would come into contact with joy.
She shared her love for God in worship at St. Philips and Bethel Lutheran.
Linda attended and graduated from Sumner High School in 1970. After graduation, Linda
started her long dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. She served 45 years
with the U.S. Postal Service, from where she retired this past June. Linda cherished her post
office family. They were more than her work colleagues, they were her family, for, with them she
would share laughter, love and life experiences that would last for a lifetime.
On the sunrise of January 9, 1976, God ordained her to be a vessel of life for her only child
Duane Philip Bowen. She loved him as God loved her. Linda Loved cheering him on at his games,
attending school events and spending quality time with Duane, where she would impart her wisdom
and life journey as guidance for his growth.
Linda loved traveling to Chicago to spend time with her grandchildren; while with her grandchildren,
she would fry her famous Martin Luther King chicken, make her famous breakfasts, and take them
on Target and Walmart runs. When relaxing, she enjoyed watching her favorite old TV shows and movies.
Linda could always strike up a conversation with ease with anyone she met. She would talk to people
as if she had known them for a lifetime. With Linda, life was simple. All that was needed was a pair
of jeans, and a great meal, surrounded by her family, friends, and loved ones.
God, in his infinite wisdom, deemed it necessary to call his daughter home. So on Saturday,
August 6, 2022, surrounded' by her family, where she wanted to be, she took her last breath
at 3:30 pm at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.
In love, Linda leaves to continue the journey, her son Duane, daughter-in-law, Iman Ellis-Bowen,
grannies Philip and Nevaeh Bowen, her siblings Regina (Michael), Reggie (Rochelle), and Pam,
her very special cousins Sonny and Aaron, her very:::,: dear friend Judy Lane, and a host of
extraordinary nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
