Life ReflectionsLeonard Stanley Woodson, Sr. was born May 9, 1953 to the late James L. Woodson, Sr. and Alma Lee Woodson. Stanley was the 5th of 16 children born to this union. He accepted Christ and was baptized at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church on the 4th Sunday in September of 1959 by Reverend McCurdy. Stanley participated in many youth activities at Corinthian including the Baptist Youth Fellowship, the Youth Fel-lowship Choir, Cub Scouts, and the Usher Board. Stanley was an avid sports fan. As a child, he played in the Heine Meine baseball league in Lemay, Missouri. At an early age, Stanley began selling and delivering newspa-pers in the neighborhood and saved enough money to purchase a bicycle to expand his business. His family and friends fondly remember his work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Even from a young age, his life was a demonstration of his commitment to hard work. Stanley graduated from Cleveland High School in 1971 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as Security Police for four years. following an honorable discharge, he accepted a position with the United States Postal Service. He proudly and faithfully served the USPS for 38 years before retiring on December 31, 2010. Stanley was fondly known around the post office as "Woody" and is well remembered for his generosity and kind spirit. he was often awarded for excellence throughout his postal career. While serving at the post office, Stanley met the love of his life, Beverly Caster Woodson, with whom he joined in Holy Matrimony in February 2017. Stanley and Beverly enjoyed 24 wonderful years of companion-ship. Stanley was a dedicated and proud father and grandfather and his family values were dear to him. he often treated the children in the family to treats from the ice cream truck and soon acquired the name "Uncle Popsicle" from his nieces and nephews. Leonard Stanley Woodson, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory a loving, devoted wife, Beverly Caster Woodson; children, Mechelle McFadden, Leonard Stanley Woodson, Jr. (Candice), and Lenise Woodson; grandchildren Treniesha, Jalisa, Tara, Taran, Marion, Jaelyn, and Preston; siblings, Delores Lane, Samuel Write, Dorothy Woodson, Jerome Woodson (Marcella), Barbara Shaw (Richard), Patricia Jenkins (Thomas), Quinn Woodson (Charrice), Reginald Woodson (Myrna), Donald Woodson (Romonda), Elmore Woodson (Renee), Larry Woodson and Howard Woodson (Cynthia); sisters-in-law, Lorraine Little, Terry Granger, Yvonne Woodson, Tirsa Woodson, Irene Smith, and April Fields; aunts and uncles, Dorothy B. Williams, Chester Williams, Roscoe Williams, Blanche Taylor, and Etta Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Stanley was preceded in new life by his mother, Alma Lee Woodson; father, James L. Woodson; siblings, Marva Shaeffer, James L. Woodson, Jr., Kevin Woodson, Venita Woodson, and Marvin Woodson.
