Life Reflections Lenora Cannon McCree was the third oldest of seven children born to Flinard and Flossie Cannon,on July 26, 1936, in Pinola, Mississippi. Both parents and siblings Carrie, Claude, Preston, Jimmie, and Lucille preceded her in death. The Cannon family moved to Missouri in 1939, and made their home in the City ofRichmond Heights. Lenora attended Lincoln Elementary School, and graduated from Douglass High School in 1954. She continued her education at Muriel Business School, Harris Stowe Teacher's College, and St. Louis University. She was crowned Muriel Queen in 1955, and was a part of the Charmettes Modeling Club. Lenora confessed her hope in Christ at a young age and was an active member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Richmond Heights until her illness. Gospel music was a mainstay in Lenora's life. She sang in the Youth Choir as well as the Sanctuary Choir at church, and sang with the Cannon-Gill Sisters and the Zionettes singing groups all around St. Louis. She was the secretary of Sunday School and taught there for over 25 years. On June 27, 1959, Lenora married Edward Morrison McCree, and the couple was blessed with three child-ren: Edward Morrison McCree, Jr., Lisa Michelle McCree-Young, and Reginald Maurice McCree. She was a co-founder of The Ladd's and Lassie's Mothers Club, a member of the Pacesetters Club, a Bridge Club that met weekly. She was an avid reader, and mentored many a youth at Mount Zion. Lenora worked for and retired from the U. S. Army Reserves Components Personnel and Administrative Center after 35 years of service. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Edward; her two sons, Ed and Reggie,. one daughter, Lisa; three grandchildren, Jouelle Leaunna Young, Allan Lanell Young, and Gerald Martin Young, II; one great granddaughter, Zara Campbell, one sister, Mattie Stanford of Columbia, Maryland; a set of inlaws Kenneth and Peggy McCree; a special sister-in-law, Vivian McCree, sister-in-law Margaret Ensley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as other relatives and friends.
