L.C. Joiner

Obituary L. C. Joiner was born on January 31, 1933 to Mary Ann Tyson and Lloyd Joiner. l1e was the youngest of four children. L. C. was born, raised and educated in the rural community of Taylor in Lafayette County, Mississippi. After relocating to St. Louis, Missouri in 195 L L.C. was called to active duty in the U.S. Army. l1e served ten years in the military where he traveled extensively throughout the United States and served a tour of duty in Germany. l1e received awards and honors for his marksmanship skills. While in the military, during one trip home he met a pretty young woman who people called Johnnie B. After his discharge from the military, L.C. made his permanent home in St. Louis, MO. l1e married Joannie Belinda Green in 1965. One child was born to this union and he became "Daddy" to three children. While providing for his family, he worked many years for Blue Cross Blue Shield where he eventually retired in 1987. l1ard worker that he was, needing something to do to stay busy and active, he went to work part-time for l1arrah's Casino, a position that he greatly enjoyed for ten years. In his spare time, L.C. enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan of baseball and football. In the months preceding his illness, L.C. had begun participating in the senior program, "The Merrymakers" sponsored by New Cote Brilliant Church of God. l1e was known to be a quiet, patient and steadfast man, he was liked and respected by everyone he met. L.C. was baptized at his mother's church, Nash Prayer Band Missionary Baptist Church here in St. Louis, MO. l1e later was a member of Worldwide Church of God. On Tuesday, August 10, 2010, L.C. departed this life after a brief illness. l1e was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joannie Belinda, his brother, Joshua Joiner and sister, Annie Lois Moore. L.C. leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Melissa (Buck) Alexander and Rhonda (William) Johnson of Flint, MI; one son, Curtis Green; one sister, Mary Lee (Rozell) Taggart; twelve grandchildren: Regina, Reginald, Monya, Alena, Manuell, Latasha, Joannie, Curtis, Rhonda, Joseph, Josette, Jonathan, Joshua and Travis; 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Interment - Lake Charles Cemetery Pagedalem MO 63133 .
