Life Reflections L . E. Whisenton, the fifth child of Joe and Bessie Travis Cockrell was born on July 24, 1926 in D'Lo, Mississippi . L . E. received her education in the Jackson Mississippi Public School System. At an early age she became a member of St . Luther Baptist Church and later joined Mt . Zion Baptist Church of St. Louis, MO. As a dedicated and active member she served as a Sunday school teacher and remained a faithful member of Mt . Zion Baptist Church until her health began to decline. She was preceded in death by her husbands Joe Smith and Charlie Whisenton; her mother and father; her only child Gwendolyn Moore; siblings, Rose, Ruby, JoAnn, and Johnny; and great nephew, Anthony L . Davis. Survivors to cherish her memory: grandchildren, Franny and Arthur; nieces, Elouise Davis (Leroy) and Carmilia Cockrell Hood (Anthony); great-nieces, Darlene Carr , Rosalind Davis, Catherine Shamily (Eddie) , Shanna Cockrell; great - grandchildren, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
