Kathryn Irene Johnson

Life Reflections Kathryn Irene Lewis Johnson, daughter of Gerald Lewis, Lillian Irene Lewis Craven and Henry Craven was born March 14, 1931 in Jackson, Missouri. She was the seventh of eight child-ren. Her parents three brothers: Raymond Lewis, William Lewis and Glenn Lewis, four sisters: Helen Horell, Wilma Underwood, Zelda Green and Glenda Mae Williams, Two sons: John Riley and William Oliver (Germaine) Johnson, and one granddaugher Jovonna Johnson all preceded her in death. Kathryn graduated from John S. Cobb High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1949, where she participated on the girls' basketball and volleyball teams. She attended Futrell Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Rev. Mac Futrell in Jackson, Missouri. Kathryn was joined in holy matrimony to Millard Riley Johnson, Jr. and to this union 7 childrenwere born. They united with the First M. B. Church of Robertson under the leadership of James E. Butler. Kathryn was a member of the young women auxiliary under the leadership of Bessie Butler along with singing in the young people's choir. She was a faithful member until her death. Kathryn was a hard worker and wore many hats. She was employed with Executive Inn, Holiday Inn and McDonald Douglas (Boeing) until her retirement. She also served in her community as the troop leader for the cub scouts, brownies and girl scouts. Kathryn made sure all her children received a proper education and encouraged them to go further. She enjoyed help raising her grandchildren but especially her great-grandchildren. Everybody called her "GRANNIS" a name she was affectionately called by her family and friends. On August 17, 2020, she was called from here to rest surrounded by loved ones at the age of 89. She leaves to cherish her memory: 2 sons: Rickey, Dwight (Jacquelyn) of Bilioxi, Mississippi, 3 daughters: Debra (Earl), Karen (Johnny) and Lillian, daughter-in-law, Linda of Phoenix, Arizona, god-daughter, Shawntell, 14 grandchildren: Rickey, Brandon (Crystal), Kathryn Monique, Alvin, Phillip, Shauntell (Paul), Amanda, Benjamin (Conswella), Shamel, Brittany (Jermiane), Ashley, Deena, Sharron and Danielle. 23 great-grandchildren: Kyvonte, Deonte', Ja'mon, Destinee, Torian, Aveianna, Janessa, Malachi, Bro'klyn, Germaine, Makayla, Leon, Cory, Darnell, Christian, Zakai, Logan, Brayton, Blake, Lawrence, Rylie, Kinsley, Baby Smothers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
