Julian Ronell Jenkins

February 10, 1979 — December 15, 2020

Life Reflections Although his due date was in January of 1979, this little baby boy made it clear he wasn't quite ready. The doctor said "we can't wait any longer!" Labor was induced and several hours later, Julian Ronell arrived on February 10, 1979, at St. John's Mercy hospital weighing 8lbs11oz. He lived here in Chesterfield with his mother, Irene, and his grandparents, Clifford and Doris Frazier. In August of '79, Jeffrey K. Jenkins and Irene Frazier married, and Julian's last name was changed to Jenkins. Julian was a well-traveled child. In his first year the family moved from St. Louis, MO, to Mansfield, Ohio, and by the time he was 13 months old, they relocated to Abilene, TX. That's where his dad had been recruited for the track and field team at a community college. In the late fail of 1980, the family moved back to Mansfield where Julian spent great time with his pawpaw and granny, A.C. and Elaine Jenkins, his aunts (Debra, Val and Terry), his uncle, Asa "Chuck", plus cousins Tonda and Bina of the Jenkins family. They were all his best friends. In 1981 Julian became big brother with the birth of Rashad J. Jenkins, and soon followed by Jeffrey K. Jenkins, Jr, in 1983. By 1984 Julian was back in St. Louis with his mom and two brothers. At the young age of five years old, he found comfort and joy in drawing and writing. Julian's teachers noticed how bright he was, and placed him in the "gifted children's" program at Chesterfield Elementary inRockwood School District. Julian also attended Union Baptist Church in Chesterfield, where he was baptized at the early age of seven. He participated in church plays and was so good he even dreamed of becoming actor. He knew his uncle Cliff had a career in acting and it wasn't hard for Julian to think he could become an actor as well. Julian held lots or artistic and creative talent that continued toshow itself throughout his life. At twelve years old Julian and his brothers went to Three Rivers Aikido, to learn more about the art, self-discipline, and respect. Here is where Julian's love for martial arts began (and his love of Steven Segal). From that point on to the end of his life, Julian studied at least eight styles of martial arts and yoga. He was invested in mastering mental, spiritual and physical wellness. Julian loved hard during his life. He was also fiercely loved, by his relatives, his mom, dad, and brothers, all of his cousins, especially his "Cousin-Friend-Brother" - Derrick Sutherlin. He shared a special relationship with the Croons/God-family, his friends - the Misbauer boys, Schevin, and Marty; his martial arts buddies like Doc and others; and the greatest love of his life - his daughter Brittany. In addition to his daughter, Julian had three great loves in his life; his high school sweetheart Shelley, who was by his side during his teen years, Christine his love for 18 years and who is the mother of his daughter, and for the last few months of his life, Melissa - who was by his side sharing in laughs, love, life, and the challenges he faced. There will never be enough space to fully-reflect upon the life of this sweet, funny, kind, intelli-gent and immensely loved one whose earthly chapter ended on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.
