Celebration of Life Sunrise: January 8, 1949 Sunset: July 30~ 2013 On January 8, 1949, to George T. and Mary E. Watson, Juanita Marie Watson was born. She was the second of four children. Juanita was mother to Perry L. Watson and Diarra Morris. She is preceded in death by her son and her parents. Juanita was educated in Maplewood Richmond Heights Public School System; where she graduated and went on to attend Southeast Missouri State University on a music scholarship. She later went on to attend St. Louis Community College Meramec, Washington University and other institutions, where she ob- tained an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and eventually achieved a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Some time later, she became a student at the Covenant Theological Seminary. She was awarded credit life experience under the Master's program, of which she had not a chance to finish. Her extensive professional history includes employment with the State of Missouri, an architectural firm, and the St. Louis County Housing Authority to name a few. However, all positions held were affiliated with construction and design in some facet. Juanita was also a successful entrepreneur, having owned two lucrative businesses, she was the first African-American woman admitted to the local chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners). Other distinctions include admittance to the local chapter of NAWIC (National Association of Women in Construction) and NAMC (National Association of Minority Con- structors). She will be remembered by her daughter, Diarra Kamani Sadikifu Morris; four grandchildren, Kiarra Hodge, Michel Hodge, Joe Robinson, and Kalil Thompson; three siblings, Georgia Crenshaw, Clinton Watson, and Sharon Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and friends.
