Life Reflections

Joyce Ann Levy was born on August 22nd, 1941 to the late James and Sallie Williams. She was one of five children, Dorothy, Cora, Betty and James Williams, Jr.

Joyce was a graduate of Soldan High School, as well as a graduate of Harris Stowe State College with a degree in Education.

Joyce had many jobs through the years including Christian Northeast Hospital and the federal government, but her real passion was baking and cooking. Which led her to running a successful bakery, which had so many baked goods that it looked like a factory! She could bake and cook anything. She even had the exact recipe to the White Castle cheeseburgers, which she loved to make for her son, Keith. She baked the most beautiful and delicious wedding cakes. Two, three, four tier Cakes, she could make them all, but her real claim to fame was her famous sweet potato pie! Customers would buy five to six pies at a time!

Joyce was a talented singer, if you didn't know. She sang for many couples at their weddings. The popular wedding song at that time was "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters, which she sang perfectly, acapella; However, her favorite song to sing was "Fly Me To The Moon" by Frank Sinatra, which she sang her son Keith as she tucked him into bed each night.

Joyce was also a talented seamstress. She altered countless wedding dresses. She made three piece suits and many ladies' dresses, as well as all of her son Keith's suits for school.

Joyce was a woman of strong faith and thoroughly enjoyed volunteering her time at church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She loved popcorn, so much in fact her CB handle name was "Popcorn Lady". She loved her Hallmark Christmas Movies, but not as much as she loved the color blue. She was given the name "Auntie Blue Bell" by her nephew Corey.

Joyce was a beloved sister, mother, stepmother, aunt and friend to so many, as well as recent mother-in-law and grandmother. Joyce was truly a sweet soul who touched so many lives and will be missed by so many.

"When you speak of her, speak not with tears, for thoughts of her should not be sad. Let memories of the times you shared give you comfort, for her life was rich because of you." -Author Unknown
