Life ReflectionsJoyce Hopkins was born on January 2, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri. her parents, Beatrice Compton and Charles O'Kelley,and five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.She confessed a belief in Christ at an early age and joined Southern Union Baptist Church and also joined and attendedJamieson Memorial CME church. Later she joined Bible Way Baptist Church where under the leadership of PastorNathan Strachan, she served as Chairperson of the Church Trustee Board and also sang in the church choir and servedon various other church committees.Joyce was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and completed her education as a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from the Missouri Juvenile Court Detention Center in St. Louis.Joyce was an active member of the Prince Hall family for over 30 years. Served as Worthy Matron of New Hope Chapter, #56, Order of Eastern Star. Served as Royal Commandress of Queen Sarah Courtt. 35, Order of Cyrenes. Past Most Royal Grand Commandress of State of Missouri, Order of Cyrenes. Honorary Past Commandress Chantresses Medinah Court #15. She was also a member of the Medinah Court #15.Joyce's devotion to her family and friends leaves cherished memories for her children: Raydell and Darlene; her brothersand sisters: Judith, Eilene and Frederick; her aunt: Annette Roberts; 17 grandchildren, one preceding her in death, 17great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, other devoted nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
