He later received his Bachelor of Art in Education at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff . Joe and his family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1994 where he was employed with Morgan's Food KFC for 14 years. He departed this life on August 26, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at his home. He was a loving father and friend to many. He leaves to cherish: his wife of 18 years, Roszetta; three daughters, VaShaunti and Vanessa of St. Louis, MO, Chandra of Pine Bluff, AR; two sons, Michael of St. Louis, MO, and Christopher of Pine Bluff, AR; two sisters, Maggie Crooks and Minnie Underwood of Tuscaloosa, AL; and one brother EA Lavender (Rosie) of Tuscaloosa, AL; two grandkids, Faye and Myshaus Gates of St. Louis, MO; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Reid of St. Louis, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who all loved him very much. Nis father, mother, 2 brothers and 3 sisters preceded him in death. Interment -Laurel Hill Cemetery .
