Life Reflections Jessie Jones was born March 6,1925 in FelixVille, Louisiana to the union of Robert Jones and Mary Hitchens-Jones. To this union, a family of 10 was born, and Jessie was the second oldest. His beloved parents and sisters, Artis, Mary, and Caretha, and two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Jones preceded him in death. At an early age, Jessie confessed his faith and maintained a strong belief in God. During his youth, he was educated in the Louisiana Public School system, and then moved to St. Louis, Missouri. From there Jessie went on to enlist in the U.S. Army July of 1945 until December 14,1946. While in the armedforces Jessie served as a TeeS (Sgt) in World War I1 and received an honorable discharge for services rendered. However, that same passion and respect was carried over in to his civilian life - personal and professional. Jessie was a hard worker, mostly in construction. Although, Jessie was a master builder, he was equally adamant about his southern cuisine. He befriended many people with his talents, preparing and sharing home cooked meals. Jessie also loved his 'cowboy movies,' which was known by everyone and anyone who truly knew him. The fun did not stop there. Jessie was a comedian and he did not bite his tongue. @ Jessie will truly be missed for there is none like him. - Jessie departed this life at 7:40am, Thursday, January 20, 2011 while at SSM DePaul Health Center. He leaves to cherish his memories: His children, Curtis Mixon of Magnolia, MS., Debra (Larry) Williams, Michelle (Willert) Banks, Jesse (Debra) Miller, Catrena, Tammy, and Trayon Miller, of St. Louis, Missouri. Four brothers, Marshall (Bernice) Jones, Huey (Alice) Jones, George (Wanda) Jones, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Otis (Paula) Jones of New York.
