Life ReflectionsJeffrey Couch Spears, the youngest child born in the marriage of Barbara Jean Baldwin and Albert Spears, began his life on August 6, 1956 in St. Louis, Missouri. His parents and brother, Albert Charles Spearspreceded him in death. Jeff's middle name, Couch, was given in honor of Jean Couch, his maternal great-grandfather, because neither of his two sons had children to carry on the family name.During his childhood, Jeff attended Tillman Elementary School, where he was an active Cub and Boy Scout. Healso attended Nipher Junior High School and Kirkwood Senior High School, graduating in 1974. From the timehe was a young man he became a hunter and avid fisherman, but all who knew him knows that his passion was fishing - Jeff was very proud of a secret "JKILLER" bait recipe that he developed. Cooking was another passion, and he was a good cook. Jeff also loved to tease and had a sarcastic sense of humor. After high school, Jeff worked as a Truck Grain Merchandiser at FAR-MAR-CO, Inc., in St. Louis, and then a Grain Merchandiser at Pillsbury Co., which transferred him to Evansville, Indiana. Next, his career moved him toFort Worth, Texas, where he worked as a Commodity Specialist for Burlington Northern Railroad. During thosemore than 20 years, he shared his life with Margaret Roth and together they raised his stepdaughter, Alisha Roth. Before that union ended, they were blessed with a son, Jordan Finley Spears.Jeff later moved back to St. Louis and began a new career at the National Personnel Records Center. Here, athome, he found new love with a high school friend, Ruby Triggs. They got engaged just prior to him being diagnosedwith ALS. Jeff retired early due to his illness and Ruby, with assistance from her son, Quinton Bennett, and herdaughter, LaQuetta Cooper, lovingly cared for Jeff at home until his needs could no longer be accommodated there.Despite his devastating diagnosis, Jeff continued to be the life of the party and went out of his way to cheer up thosearound him until long after he lost his ability to speak. On the afternoon of Wednesday, May 11, 2016, amidst all ofthe storms surrounding him, Jeff peacefully and willfully answered God's call home.Jeff leaves to cherish his memory: his son Jordan; stepdaughter, Alisha; fiance, Ruby Triggs; uncle, William O.
