Life Reflection
Jeanne Emma Willis-Carter was called home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2023 at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton, Missouri. She was born on October 31, 1954 along with her twin sister Joanne Willis-Pope to Isaac and Joan E Willis.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, and her sister Rosetta. Yet, her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and left behind. Her daughters: Lesley (Dana) Martin and Jaime Leigh-Carter; her grandchildren: David, Dajuan, Alexis, Dana Jr. (DJ), and Ania; her great-grandchildren Davion, Aubrei, Skylar, Damias, and Aiko, will remember her fondly. Her brothers: Michael (Iris), Isaac II (Denise), and Raymond (Denise); her sisters: Vanita, Vanessa, Brenda, Mary Ann, and Robin, along with a vast family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, will carry her memory forward.
Jeanne's early education was nurtured within the Saint Louis public schools. She graduated from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School in 1973, and her thirst for knowledge led her to Meramec Community College, where she pursued her love for animals by studying to become a veterinarian.
Her commitment to Christ was evident at an early age. Alongside her twin sister, Jeanne for a short time became a member of the InterFaith Choir, singing praises to the Lord alongside the Meal Twins. She had a real love for music and going to concerts.
Jeanne worked as a bartender at some popular spots around the city, where she formed some lifelong friendships, and many will remember her for her cooking skills. She has blessed many with her cooking, from her mother's company, Workshop Enterprises, Inc., to other well known establishments. Her caramel popcorn was a sweet reminder of her love and care. Jeanne had a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary. She could take a pack of ramen noodles and transform it into a spectacular dish Jeanne was cool, funny, and feisty all rolled up into one, but much fun to be around. She was also fighter.
Jeanne's memory will cherished by all who know her. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate her life, a life filled with love, laughter, music, and strength. Jeanne a beloved mother, grandmother, sister aunt, and friend, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit lives on in the hearts of those who love you.
